
On This Day 21 July 1777 Henry Ryder, bishop of Lichfield and Coventry was born in Streatham
The son of Nathaniel Ryder first Baron Harrowby of Sandon and Elizabeth.
He was educated at Harrow School before being admitted in 1795, as a fellow commoner, at St John's College, Cambridge, where he gained a reputation for literary taste, studious habits, and irreproachable conduct. He graduated MA in 1798 and DD in 1813.
