iOn This Day 25 August 1944 the film Champagne Charlie was released, starring Tommy Trinder who was born at 54 Wellfield Road, Streatham.

Dir. Alberto Cavalcanti, prod. Michael Balcon. Very loosely based on George Leybourne & The Great Vance (played by Tommy Trinder & Stanley Holloway).
Some songs were original Music Hall songs although many written for the film.
