Distinguished Service Medal winner died on this day 15 May 2015

On This Day 15 May 2015 John Jarvis- Smith DSC died. He was born in Streatham and educated at Woodmasterne School

Part of "Operation Infatuate" in WW2 1945 as a naval sub lieutenant in the RN Support Squadron.Previously saw action off Sword Beach on D-Day. He was mistakenly mentioned in Despatches as being killed in action and later awarded a Distinguished Service Cross by the admiralty
In 1971 he included Jarvis in his name and he became a shipbroker working for Ernest Simpson, the second husband of Wallis Simpson.
He later worked for Murco and John Latsis, Greek shipping tycoon
