Edgar D. Webb joined the war effort early on as part of the London Regiment (First Surrey Rifles) and served overseas on the Western Front as a Sergeant. During his time with the London Regiment, he saw action in France and was involved in a number of British offensives that attempted to produce a breakthrough on the Western Front. On 5th May 1915, he was serving in Northern France when he was killed in action. He is buried at Le Touret Military Cemetery.
