​"He was my Uncle Jack, he didn't speak much about his experiences but worked on the notorious Burma railroad. They were allowed one item from the Red Cross and he chose a bottle of Lea and Perrins sauce to spice up what was normally the daily ration of rice. After the war he worked for Phillips til his retirement in 1985. Here is a photo from the Streatham News taken with his family shortly after his return from Burma he is holding my sister Julia"
