The Lambeth Walk was a song in Me and My Girl, Launched by Lupino Lane at the Victoria Palace Theatre in Christmas 1937.

Miss England Chief of the dancing staff at the Locarno, Streatham, turned the song into a dance- it evolved the stamps with knee slapping and shouts of "Oi"
