Streatham Heights, Footpaths & Woods

A walk around the hilly parts of Streatham with some great views.

This guide takes us to remnants of Streatham's countryside that have survived the suburban development. The route follows ancient footpaths which still exist if you know where to look. The origins of these paths are little known in Streatham, although some locals hurry along them on their way to the station or the High Road.

The walk takes in the steep Hill Path, Streatham Common North where Sir Henry Tate, the sugar magnate, lived at Park Hill, and the lesser known second site of Streatham's mineral wells which is Grade II listed. There are several interesting buildings which survive. The development of Streatham Garden village built for dairy workers is quite unique.
