Streatham Hill Triangle is a little known part of Streatham. However it has a long history, dating right back to the Romans. The building of a Roman road established Streatham as a place. It was named in the 5th century by Saxon settlers - Strete Ham, the place on the street.
The triangle contains the probable location of Brixistane, the marker stone for the Saxon meeting place of the Brixton hundreds. Other highlights in this guide are examples of diverse architecture ranging from late Georgian to early 21st century. By the 1930's Streatham was earning the title of 'Entertainment Centre of South London', and the walk leads us to discover the famous Streatham Hill Theatre, the Gaumont Palace and the Locarno Dance Hall.
