Date: Tuesday 6th October, 12.00 - 1.30pm
A Streatham Festival event www.streathamfestival.com
Join folklorist and Lambeth Tour Guide Em Fleming for a wander through space and time as we walk all the way from Streatham Common North to Streatham Hill station. As we move from rural to urban the street tells the story of just how much London, Lambeth and Leigham Court Road itself has changed since the 19th century.
There is a variety of architecture to enjoy, some fantastic views and of course lots of scandals, intrigue and gossip - including more than one murder alongside other mysterious and accidental deaths.
Can a house really be cursed even if it's been demolished? What echoes of medieval Streatham remain? Who were St. Julian, St. Alban and St. Peter and what have they got to do with this small stretch of south London?
Streatham Society members can buy discounted tickets with a code - please see Society events email.
