He was an English tenor of the early 20th century. Pike has been called "England's most recorded tenor", and his "silver voice" became a favourite in thousands of homes  The Sphere On This Day 3 March 1900 announced the estate of Sir Henry Tate of Park Hill Streatham Common at £1.264m.
He died in December 1899 and is buried at West Norwood Cemetery.  Streatham News On This Day 3 March 1950. Janet Morgan, a teacher at Streatham Seconday School becomes women's Squash champion of England.   On This Day 2 March 1873 Christopher Trowell Gabriel died. The son of Thomas Gabriel of Brixton the family were timber merchants with Gabriel's Wharf on the South Bank of the Thames. He lived at Norfolk House, a 13 bedroom mansion on a 15 acre site situated in the vicinity of Norfolk House Road and Mount Ephraim Road. He died aged 75 leaving an estate of £200k Peter Gabriel of Genesis is a descendant. Many of the Gabriel family through the ages , including Peter were educated at Charterhouse school      On This Day 1 March 1857 Brigadier- General Sydney Bellingham Jameson was born. Lived at 82 Christchurch Road. A direct descendent of the Jameson and Haig (Whiskey) families
His grandfather was James Jameson who was the son of John Jameson and Margaret Haig of Scotland who founded the famous distillery in Dublin. James was a director of the Bank of Ireland. Sydney Bellingham Jameson born 1 Mar 1857 at Airfield attended Eton College and Cambridge. He served with the Seaforth Highlanders and attained the rank of Brigadier General. He married Ethel Theodora Greenway in Warwickshire on 8 Aug 1887. They travelled quite extensively and had seven children, two of whom were born in Ireland. Sydney died 10 Oct 1932 at home at 2 Redcliffe Gardens, Kensington. ©June Bow & Karen Poff – December 2019
