On This Day 25 June 1985, Streatham-born actor Jill Gascoine with Frances de la Tour at a protest in Brixton - captioned, 'Celebrities on Town Hall Steps for Fighting Fund'. Lambeth's left-wing council refused to set a rate, putting it at odds with central government's planned funding cuts. The stand-off ended with the dismissal of 31 councillors from office in 1986.
