He married Eveline May Holland of "Brooklands", Streatham in July 1876 at St Leonard's Church. His widow left his personal library of over 5000 books and journals to Inverness Burgh library in 1921
Charles Fraser-Mackintosh was a lawyer, property developer and parliamentarian who played a key role in shaping both the modern townscape of Inverness and the cultural identity of the Highlands. Born Charles Fraser in Dochnalurg near Dochgarroch in 1828, he took on the additional name of Mackintosh as a stipulation of the will of his maternal Uncle, Eneas Mackintosh. (Inverness Rare Books)
