Son of Sir William Grantham an MP and High Court Judge (https://www.facebook.com/groups/StreathamSociety/permalink/1460484301129221/) and Emma Wilson he was born in South Norwood but the family lived at Bedford House Streatham.
Educated at Harrow and Trinity College Canbridge. Called to the Bar (Inner Temple). Served in South Africa 1900 with the Queen's Yeomanary and joined the Munstrer Fusiliers. He was reported wounded and missing for 3 months and his body found in August 1915.
