Leigham Court House, which stood between Downton Road and Cricklade Avenue. This stately mansion was built c.1836 by a wealthy banker John George Fuller. Later it was the home of John Tredwell a railway contractor. After becoming owner of Leigham Court, Tredwell always kept his pick and shovel in the hall of the house to remind himself of his railway navvy days. The house was demolished in 1908 to make way for the Leighham Court Estate (the A,B,C,&D estate) (Lambeth Archives)
