On This Day 1 January 1887 the memorial stone was laid at the Methodist Church Riggindale Road, Streatham Park
The original chapel , now church hall, was designed by Frederick Wheeler. He also designed the Art Nouveau style main church with Edward Speed. Wheeler lived in the next road, Rydal Road.
The stained glass window was gifted by Sir Richard Walter Essex MP in memory of his family. Essex also lived in Streatham Park at "Dixcot" today in the Wandsworth side of Streatham
