John Brown writes that following her death in 1719, in her will she left a number of bequests to the parish including £2 pa to be paid in perpetuity for the preaching of a sermon in St Leonard's church on the 17th November each year. This being the anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth 1 to commemorate the monarch's reestablishment of the Protestant faith in England
