I use to go there, for a bath for years back in the 60 - 70's - we did not have a bath at home, when I wn=ent in to the male side, and pay a few pennys for the bath, a little bar of soap, and a couple of towels, then go in the waiting room, sit on the bench at the end, and as they called in " next " we all shovelled around another bit, waiting our turn, they to you to a bath, and let you in, a spotless bath, the taps, and draining, were controlled outside the bathroom in the corridor, they filled the bath up in a couple of minutes, you had about 20 minutes to have a bath, you could shout out, more hotware in number 10, or what ever bath number you were in, two happy blocks worked there, singing quiet alot.
but as time went by the queue, got smaller, bit by bit over time, to the point of getting straight in, for a bath, it was open every day of the week. i use to go there on sunday mornings as well., I loved it.
I knew kevin Kelly for years, the man who took the picture, he died 28th August 2023a , I really miss him
