Rosa Bassett was born On This Day 9th August 1871 in Deptford, the daughter of John and Elizabeth. She died at home a spinster at 9 Conyers Road.
Miss Rosa Bassett (1872-1926), Head Mistress of Streatham County School. In 1923, after visiting America, she introduced the Dalton Scheme (known as the Dalton Plan in America), to England. She died after a fall on ice.
The school was later renamed Rosa Bassett School, Streatham and following a series of mergers with other local schools formed Graveney School.
