He was a founding member of the Streatham Natural History and Antiquarian Society. He lived at 21 Fernwood Ave.
He was also Assistant Master of Strand School, 1899 and with W. H. Hewitt, author of A First Chemistry for Schools and President of the South London Botanical Institute, Fellow of Royal Meterological Society (1935) and member of Thunderstorm Census Organization
