Sir Brian Hill, was the seventh generation of his family in the building trade as chairman of Higgs & Hill, and a respected spokesman for the wider construction industry.
Hill was born in Streatham in 1932 and was educated at Stowe school. He studied land economy at Cambridge University and qualified as a chartered surveyor before joining Higgs & Hill in 1957.
Construction projects carried out during his 35-year tenure at Higgs and Hill included the BBC Television Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Hayward Gallery, South Bank Television Centre and the Mound Stand at Lord’s cricket ground.
His father Gerald Aubrey Hill is recorded at 19 Becmead Ave.
