On This Day 1 November 1885 Sir (Charles) Hilary Jenkinson was born. The family lived at "Roslin" 122 Palace Road
Sir (Charles) Hilary Jenkinson (1882–1961), archivist, the youngest of the six children of William Wilberforce Jenkinson, land agent, and his wife, Alice Leigh Bedale.
He was educated at Dulwich College (1895–1901) and at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he was a scholar and graduated with first-class honours in classics (1904).
