Sir James Carmichael, Director General of Housing died On This Day 9 April 1934 at his home in Kingston leaving £216k. A former Streatham resident of "Redclyffe", Ullathorne Road.
James Carmichael also owned the building firm James Carmichael Ltd in Trinity Road Wandsworth Common.
He was a generous benefactor and gifted £40k in his lifetime to the Bolingbroke Hospital and on death gifted much of his estate to charitable organisations including the Congregational Chapel in Streatham. He also gifted sums to staff of his firm and his chauffeur
