Sir Thomas Kelly (1772-1855) was Lord Mayor of London and he retired to "Pakefield", 37 Streatham High Road. The house was demolished to make way for Wavertree Court.
The 1851 census lists him as Alderman and Bookseller and publisher with three servants.
He was a member of the Worshipful Company of Plasterers and he wrote Kelly’s Practical Builder’s Price Book (1850)
