Sydney Charles Cronk

​On This Day 15 December 1942 the well- known builder Sydney Charles Cronk died, aged 51. Buried at Magdalen Cemetery in Wandsworth. Amongst the mourners were many Streatham residents connected with the building industry including Arthur, Edward and Bert Wates, Bernard Utting and Bert Chappell

He left an estate of £88,740

He was born at Streatham Place Brixton Hill and attended Christ Church School and Surrey College and lived at 5 North Drive. A member of the Carbon Lodge and played snooker and bowls at the Streatham Constitution Lodge.

A Master Builder he and his brothers took over their father's business and in 1934 he started out on his own. The business flourished and he built estates in Morden, Croydon, Woodford and Forest Hill.
