Sydney Herbert Allard died on This Day 12 April 1966. He was born in Streatham and the family lived at 254 Leigham Court Road. Educated at Ardingly. He became a staunch member of the Streatham & District Motor Cycle Club followed by his brothers Leslie and Dennis and their sister Mary
In 1935 Allard created his first Allard Special, a Bugatti-tailed two-seater which won its first event at Taunton. Allard then began to build replicas for sale. The Allard Motor Company was founded in 1945 in Clapham, London, and produced approximately 1900 cars until its closure in 1966.
1949 won the R.A.C. Hill-Climb Championship
1950 finished third in the general classification at the 24 Heures du Mans
1952 Won the Monte-Carlo Rally, gaining world-wide acclaim
