On This Day 1 August 1944 at 7am a V1 (doodlebug) fell on 150 Leigham Court Road and destroyed 150 and 152 and damaged St Peter's Church. There were minor casualties only in the area .
Number 152 belonged to the famous entertainer Stan Lupino where he lived with his family including, Hollywood film star Ida Lupino
Ida was born in Herne Hill but later lived with the family in Leigham Court Road, "Holmdene". She attended St Helen's School in Streatham.
