Our #ThrowbackThursday for this week is "The Avenue" later renamed Dr Johnson Avenue which bisects Tooting Commons- Tooting Graveney Common(Tooting) and Tooting Bec Common (Streatham)
Note the bridge over the York Ditch part of the Falcon Brook which marks the boundary of the two parishes
Dr Samuel Johnson was a frequent visitor to Streatham and had an apartment at the home of the Thrale family at 'Streatham Park" and he worshipped at St Leonard's Church.
